STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2026-06-30 (Week 27) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 26 (June 22-28) * On day 174 (Jun 23), during the DSS-63 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 11:51 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 129 frames of SSR data. Also, the transmitter tripped offline at 12:20 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 48 minutes of commanding, 2-way tracking, and the loss of 1852 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 176 (Jun 25), during the DSS-54 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 05:09 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 92 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. • On day 177 (Jun 26), during the DSS-55 support, real-time telemetry was not available in the MOC until 02:55 UT, due to a VC7 telemetry bind issue. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 25 minutes of real-time telemetry and commanding. Also, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 05:09 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 107 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. • On day 178 (Jun 27), during the DSS-63 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 06:27 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of three frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.4 Gbits during this week. Week 27 (June 29-July 5) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, one at 720 kbps, and nine at 480 kbps. * On Wednesday, July 1st, there will be an engineering demonstration for DSS-23 at Goldstone from 16:00 to 18:00 UT. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this track. * On Wednesday, July 1st, Nascom voice maintenance 17:00-24:00 UT. This Should not affect us. * APL will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, for the Independence Day holiday. Week 28 (July 6-12) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, two at 720 kbps, and eleven at 480 kbps. * There is a DSN mission network maintenance scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th, from 06:30-14:30 UT. Week 29 (July 13-19) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, one at 720 kbps, and twelve at 480 kbps. Week 30 (July 20-26) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 480 kbps. * On Monday, July 20th, there will be a return-to-service engineering demonstration during the DSS-23 track. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this track. * The 187th momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21st, at 13:00 UT. * An ESA New Norcia track is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21st, from 20:15 to 23:20 UT. Week 31 (July 27-Aug 2) * Ahead has 9 tracks during the week, one at 720 kbps and eight at 480 kbps. * There is a DSN mission network maintenance scheduled for Monday, July 27th from 15:00-23:00 UT.
