STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-02-11 (Week 7) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * There will be a STEREO instrument teams meeting March 3-4 at APL (hybrid). Anyone interested in participating is welcome. Please contact Lan Jian and cc Terry Kucera and Angelos Vourlidas. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 6 (Feb 3-9) * On day 036 (Feb 5), DSN conducted a Mission Network Maintenance from 07:30 through 15:30 UT. After the maintenance, the MOPs team verified the SLE telemetry and command connectivity with DSN. * On day 036 (Feb 5), the MOPs team deleted four DSS-35 tracks for weeks 6-7. The antenna was declared red, due to water flooding the pedestal. DSS-35 has an estimated return to operation on DOY 051 (Feb 20). * On day 037 (Feb 6), during the DSS-55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 05:39 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 30 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.6 Gbits during this week. Week 7 (Feb 10-16) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 8 (Feb 17-23) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Solar Orbiter will have a Venus flyby on Tuesday, February 18. STEREO does not currently have any special observations planned for this event. * The 174th momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, at 18:45 UT. * On Wednesday, February 19th, a MOC IONET security scan is scheduled from 14:00 to 16:00 UT. * There will be a power outage in APL bldg 17 between Friday, March 21, at 3pm, and Monday, March 24, at 8am (EDT) in order to accommodate a data center update. This outage should not have any impact on operations, but instrument teams should be aware and report any problems. Week 9 (Feb 24 - Mar 2) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 10 (Mar 3-9) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There will be a STEREO instrument teams meeting March 3-4 at APL (hybrid). Anyone interested in participating is welcome. Please contact Lan Jian and cc Terry Kucera and Angelos Vourlidas. * The 74th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th, at 12:35 UT. * Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 9. Week 11 (Mar 10-16) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Solar Orbiter Remote Sensing Window 19 begins on Tuesday, March 11. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled for Thursday, March 13. Week 12 (Mar 17-23) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * SECCHI is observing the Parker Solar Probe perihelion beginning Wednesday, March 19.
