STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-10-11 (Week 41) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 40 (Oct 3-9) * On day 279 (Oct 6), during the DSS-35 support for Ahead, an SLE telemetry bind issue prevented the MOC from receiving real-time telemetry. This issue occurred following planned DSN Network Maintenance (278-1900z/2300z) and was eventually resolved by the next morning. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 3 hours of real-time telemetry and command opportunity. The transfer of telemetry IDR files was unaffected, as all data was verified in the archive post-track. See DR #C116779 or more information. * As of day 282 (Oct 9), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The second Solar Orbiter perihelion pass started on Saturday, Oct 8, and will continue until Sunday, Nov 6. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.3 Gbits during this week. Week 41 (Oct 10-16) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Time has been set aside on Wednesday, Oct 12, and Friday, Oct 14, for PLASTIC to perform realtime commanding to increase their MCP voltage. The MOC will be staffed during these passes. * A commercial power outage at APL is expected on Saturday, Oct 15, between 10-22 UT. The MOC will continue to operate on generator power. Week 42 (Oct 17-23) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 43 (Oct 24-30) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A track on Monday, Oct 24, was changed due to DSN maintenance. Hence, the IMU2 EEPROM refresh on Ahead has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct 26, starting around 18:15 UT. The IMU will be turned on, and a short sample of data will be collected, but the spacecraft will not be using the IMU for attitude determination. The whole procedure is expected to take about 30 minutes. * Tuesday, Oct 25 (or Oct 26 UTC), is the 16th launch anniversary of STEREO. Week 44 (Oct 31-Nov 6) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Saturday, Nov 6, is the end of the Solar Orbiter perihelion pass. * Daylight Savings Time in the US ends on Sunday, Nov 6. Week 45 (Nov 7-13) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 151st momentum dump is scheduled for Monday, Nov 7, at 19:00 UT. * Friday, Nov 11, is Veterans Day, which is an APL holiday. Week 46 (Nov 14-20) * Ahead has eight tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 64th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Friday, Nov 18, starting at 11:15 UT.
