STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-09-27 (Week 39) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 38 (Sep 19-25) * On day 263 (Sept 20), during the DSS-34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0705z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of six frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-53 track and recovered all the affected data. * As of day 268 (Sept 25), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 5.9 Gbits during this week. Week 39 (Sep 26-Oct 2) * Numerous track changes have been made due to the cancelled Artemis launch on Tuesday, Sep 27. Ahead now has 13 tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. ESA tracks have been added on Wednesday, Sep 28 and Thursday, Sep 29 (Malague), Saturday, Oct 1 (New Norcia), and Sunday, Oct 2 (Cebreros). * The 150th momentum dump on Ahead was successfully carried out today (Sep 27). Week 40 (Oct 3-9) * The DSN schedule for the week is still be reworked after the cancellation of the Artemis launch. Ahead now has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps. This is expected to increase to ten to eleven tracks by the end of tomorrow. * APL network maintenance is expected on Wednesday, Oct 5, between 19-23 UT. Week 41 (Oct 10-16) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A commercial power outage at APL is expected on Saturday, Oct 15, between 10-22 UT. The MOC will continue to operate on generator power. Week 42 (Oct 17-23) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 43 (Oct 24-30) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An IMU2 EEPROM refresh is scheduled on Ahead on Monday, Oct 24, at 16:30 UT. The IMU will be turned on, and a short sample of data will be collected, but the spacecraft will not be using the IMU for attitude determination. * Tuesday, Oct 25 (or Oct 26 UTC), is the 16th launch anniversary of STEREO. Week 44 (Oct 31-Nov 6) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal.
