STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2013-09-10 (Week 37) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The NASA MUG system used for monitoring telemetry will be upgraded on Monday, Sep 30, from 15-17 UT, which is outside track time. The backup date is Thursday, Oct 3, between 12-14 UT, also outside track time. * There will be a Go/No-Go meeting for the gyroless mode on Sep 12, from 9-12 EDT. Information on attending the meeting, or participating as a teleconference, has been sent out as a separate email message. A copy of the slides is available in the Teams/moc folder on the STEREO Data Server. If gyroless mode is approved, it will be deployed and activated on Sep 18 on the Ahead spacecraft only. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 36 (Sep 2-8) * On day 247 (Sep 4), during the DSS-15 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 1957z through 2038z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 14 frames of SSR data. * On day 251 (Sep 8), during the DSS-63 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0714z . This anomaly resulted in the loss of 1893 frames of SSR data. See DR #M107513 for more information. * On day 251 (Sep 8), during the DSS-34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 2318z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 246 (Sep 3), the 27th SECCHI stepped calibration on Ahead was executed at 0145z for the aphelion in the orbit. * On day 247 (Sep 4), the 3rd annual battery conditioning event was conducted successfully at 1500z on the Ahead spacecraft to redistribute the electrolytes within the nickel hydrogen battery cells. * On day 245 (Sep 2), during the DSS-65 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 1656z through 1814z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of eight frames of SSR data. * On day 246 (Sep 3), during the DSS-15 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 2211z through 247-0111z due to bad weather. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 17783 frames of SSR data. See DR #G114237 for more information. * On day 248 (Sep 5), during the DSS-14 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 2349z through 2352z due to bad weather. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 470 frames of SSR data. See DR #G114242 for more information. * On day 249 (Sep 6), during the DSS-55 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1232z. Because this occured close to the beginning of track, and during normal working hours, the SSR pointers were repositioned and all data were recovered. * On day 250 (Sep 7), during the DSS-63 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently between 1146z and 1214z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 56521 frames of SSR data. See DR #M107511 for more information. * On day 251 (Sep 8), during the DSS-63 support, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently between 1611z and 1633z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 4366 frames of SSR data. See DR #N109096 for more information. * The average daily SSR playback volume during the week was 4.7 gigabits for Ahead, and 4.7 gigabits for Behind. * The MOC commented that the station 63 performance was good during the week, and then trailed off during the weekend. One of the DRs stated that the problem was fixed by turning on CONSCAN. The question was raised whether CONSCAN was being, or should be, used for all station 63 passes. Other * The MOC has received an advance copy of the DSN schedule for week 48, containing Comet ISON's perihelion, for planning purposes. The schedule looks pretty good. There's quite a bit of 70 meter time right after perihelion, and some before perihelion. They're asking for more time right around perihelion--this may be filled in with ESA stations. SECCHI is also interested in the schedule for the previous week, to make sure that they don't go into week 48 with full buffers, and also in the week after perihelion. Those schedules are estimated to be a couple of weeks away from being released.
