STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2011-11-01 (Week 44) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 43 (Oct 24-30) * On day 297 (Oct 24), for the DSS 63 support for Ahead, initial telemetry lock was delayed 89 minutes due to an anomaly with the subreflector. The subreflector drive was reset and telemetry lock was established at 0614z. SSR pointers were repositioned to minimize science data loss. Later in the support, telemetry lock was intermittently lost beginning at 0837z through 0903z due to heavy rain at the Madrid complex. Subsequently, at 0903z, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly. These anomalies resulted in the loss of all tracking, telemetry, commanding for 89 minutes and the loss of several minutes of SSR data for all instruments. See DR# M106505, N107688, and N107689 for more information. * On day 298 (Oct 25), for the DSS 55 support for Ahead, initial telemetry lock was delayed eight minutes due to an anomaly with the DCD. This anomaly resulted in the loss eight minutes of real-time telemetry. All SSR data were received. See DR# N107684 for more information. * On day 301 (Oct 28), during the DSS 55 support for Ahead, SLE telemetry bind was lost in the MOC at BOT. The primary command workstation was restarted and rebound to the station at 0605z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 65 minutes of real-time telemetry. All SSR data were received. * On day 301 (Oct 28), during the DSS 45 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 2019z through 2023z due to low received signal power. This anomaly resulted in the loss of several minutes of SSR data. See DR# N107693 for more information. Possible causes for low signal include weather and antenna offpointing. The cause is under investigation. * On day 303 (Oct 30), during the DSS 26 support for Ahead, real-time telemetry processing on the primary command workstation in the MOC was delayed at BOT. The primary command workstation was restarted and telemetry was received in the MOC at 1254z. All SSR data were received. * Day 299 (Oct 26) marked the five year anniversary of the STEREO launch. * On day 299 (Oct 26), the 19th SECCHI stepped calibration, for aphelion, was executed on Ahead. The SECCHI team reports that a scheduling error resulted in no COR1 images taken, and requests that the calibration roll be rescheduled. * On day 297 (Oct 24), during the DSS 54 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 1427z through 1428z due to low received signal power. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 186 frames of SSR data. See DR# N107686 for more information. Low signal anomalies were seen during the week on both spacecraft using different stations. * On day 299 (Oct 26), during the DSS 63 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 1553z and again at 1624z, due to the typical software problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of four frames of SSR data. See DR# N107687 for more information. * On day 302 (Oct 29), during the DSS 65 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 1644z and again at 1741z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 44 frames of SSR data. * The average daily SSR playback volume was 4.4 gigabits for Ahead, and 3.9 gigabits for Behind. Week 44 (Oct 31-Nov 6) * At the time of the telecon (Nov 1) a data flow test is underway with the ESA reference station, between 14-17 UT, using simulated data. The test is going well, although there have been some configuration issues which needed to be worked out. The MOC was able to establish command bind, and send some test commands. They were also able to bind for telemetry. The voice link is also working well. However, the MOC is having problems decommutating the telemetry with the new configuration. Another data flow test will be scheduled flowing test data for Ahead. * A question was raised about a report of missing APIDs for Ahead during the station 15 pass on day 302 (Oct 29). A retransmit did not fill in the data. This is being investigated. * Daylight savings time is ending in the U.S. on Nov 6 at 06:00 UT. * Ahead has 70 meter passes on Monday, Oct 31 (D14), Tuesday, Nov 1 (D14), Wednesday, Nov 2 (D63, at 720 kbps), and Saturday, Nov 5 (D43). There are 10 tracks during the week, and coverage is nominal. * Behind has 70 meter passes on Wednsday, Nov 2 (D63), and Saturday, Nov 5 (D43 at 720 kbps, and D63). There are 12 passes during the week, and coverage is short 1.4 hours between Monday and Tuesday (Oct 31-Nov 1). The telemetry shortage is affecting IMPACT and SWAVES data. The IMPACT partition exceeded 95% full (the trigger for HK-only) for 28 minutes on Sunday (Oct 30), and for 4.7 hours yesterday (Oct 31). The SWAVES partition was 100% full for 2.6 hours yesterday. The PLASTIC and SECCHI partitions did not exceed their allocations. Week 45 (Nov 7-13) * The 19th SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Behind will occur on Tuesday, Nov 8, starting at 9:25 UT. This will be the aphelion roll. The actual aphelion is the next day. System momentum is expected to be 5 N-m-s. * On Monday Nov. 7 a battery discharge cycle is scheduled for Ahead from 15:00-15:18 UT. This should not affect science data collection. This is the first time this has been done since 2006, but the plan is to do it more frequently in the future, about once a year. The battery will be discharged by 18%, which will lower the pressure. Main bus voltage should dip momentarily. * Ahead has 70 meter passes on Monday, Nov 7 (D14), Wednesday, Nov 9 (D63), Friday, Nov 11 (D63), Saturday, Nov 12 (D63 at 720 kbps), and Sunday, Nov 13 (D14).
