STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2010-04-06 (Week 14) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 13 * The ranging pre-calibration failed due to a timing anomaly during the station 25 pass on Ahead on day 89 (Mar 30). The calibration was performed post-track. * Turbo decoder lock was intermittent between 19:42 to 20:21 UT during the station 25 track on Ahead on day 89 (Mar 30). This resulted in the loss of several minutes of SSR data for all instruments. * Turbo decoder lock was again intermittent between 23:03 and 01:17 during the station 25 track on Behind on day 89 (Mar 30). This resulted in the loss of several minutes of SECCHI SSR data. * The station 25 transmitter was red at the beginning of the station 25 track for Behind on day 93 (Apr 3). Station 26 was brought up to provide commanding and tracking. The pass was switched back to station 25 at 21:00 UT when the transmitter was once again available. This resulted in the loss of several minutes of SSR data. * Behind reached aphelion on day 94, Sunday, Apr 4 at 17:59 UT. * The average daily SSR downlink was 5.7 gigabits for Ahead, and 5.0 gigabits for Behind. Week 14 * High winds at Goldstone caused intermittent lock problems during during the station 15 pass for Behind yesterday (Apr 5). Eventually, the pass had to be ended two hours early to allow the antenna to be stowed. Playback was stopped before the end of track. * Because of the high wind problems, the contingency star tracker macros originally scheduled to be uploaded to Behind yesterday will be loaded tonight (Apr 6). * The 13th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is be carried out on Behind today (Apr 6) starting at 17:05 UT. The system momentum is predicted to be ~2 N-m-s. * A new IDR format from DSN will be tested on Wednesday during the station 24 track on Behind. Two downlink channels will be run simultaneously and compared. * G&C software version 3.2.6 will be loaded to EEPROM copy 1 on Behind on Thursday, Apr 8, starting at 14:00 UT. This version is already loaded in copy 2, and is currently in use. * There is a 70 meter track on station 43 for Behind on day 100 (Apr 10), which will be carried out at 720 kbps. Double playback of insitu data will be disabled. * The contingency star tracker macro will be loaded to Ahead on Wednesday, Apr 7. Macros will also be loaded to Ahead to support the 240 and 120 kbps telemetry rates. These macros are already loaded on Behind. This activity will be carried out on station 43, which is a 70 meter station. Pointers will be moved during the pass. Week 15 * A 4 hour return-to-service track on station 34 is scheduled on Ahead late Wednesday, Apr 14. There will be no SSR playback during this track. * G&C software version 3.2.6 will be loaded to EEPROM copy 1 on Ahead on Thursday, Apr 15. Week 16 * Switch to 7 hour DSN tracks for Ahead starting Apr 19. * The new macros for the 240 and 120 kbps telemetry rates will be tested for the last two hours of the station 15 pass on Ahead on Apr 19, starting at 17:00 UT. Four hours of commanding time are available to the instruments before the test if needed. * The 29th momentum dump will be carried out on Ahead on Wednesday, Apr 21, starting at 16:00 UT. Week 17 * Switch to 240 kbps rate for Ahead starting Apr 26. * The 23rd momentum dump will be carried out on Behind on Tuesday, Apr 27, starting at 20:30 UT. Week 18 * No significant activities planned. Other * A very fast CME was observed by both STEREO spacecraft on Saturday, Apr 3, and was seen as a magnetic storm at Earth on Monday, Apr 5.
