STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2009-08-25 (Week 35) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 34 * On day 235 (Aug 23), the station 45 pass on Ahead was cancelled because of a LCROSS emergency. SSR data loss was minimized since the succeeding track was two hours after the scheduled EOT. The MOC has also been moving pointers during the play back to minimize data loss. As of this morning, they were still catching up. * Ahead transitioned to 360 kbps starting on Monday, Aug 17. It will stay at this rate until May. Behind is still at 480 kbps. * SECCHI-Ahead had a watchdog reset on day 232 (Aug 20) at 17:50:39 UT. It was recovered during the following track on day 233 (Aug 21) by 12:20 UT. This was the 12th SECCHI watchdog reset on Ahead. * SECCHI uploaded and activated new IP software version 5.14 on Ahead on day 233 (Aug 21). * The station 15 transmitter was red for the Behind pass on day 229. Because station 15 was also planned for use on days 232 (Aug 20), and 234 (Aug 22), two concurrant short tracks were scheduled to upload commands. However, the station 15 transmitter was operating again, and these additional tracks were released. * The transmitter power on station 15 on day 234 (Aug 22) was only 16 kW instead of the requested 20 kW. However, there was sufficient margin to close link. The requested uplink power is the same throughout the mission, rather than tuning it to the distance of the spacecraft. No ranging pre-calibration was performed, but there was one post-track. * The software command loss timer on Behind was disabled on day 230 (Aug 18) because of the problems with station 15 being red. It was later reenabled on day 235 (Aug 23). * The average daily SSR downlink was 5.2 gigabits on Ahead, and 6.3 gigabits on Behind. Week 35 * The 24th momentum dump will be carried out on Ahead tomorrow (Aug 26) at 14:00 UT. * There is a short track of 5 hours duration for both Ahead and Behind on Thursday (Aug 27). * The SECCHI team has decided to discontinue the HI 180 degree roll maneuvers to examine the Lagrange points, given the proximity of the spacecraft to those points. The previously scheduled roll on Behind on Wednesday, Aug 26, has been canceled. Week 36 * Ahead will have two tracks of length 5.1 and 4.5 hours on day 245 (Sep 2), and Behind will have a 4.1 hour track. Week 37 * Labor day is Sep 7. * Behind will transition to 360 kbps on day 251 (Sep 8), starting with the track at 14:05. * The 10th SECCHI stepped calibration will be carried out on Ahead on day 253 (Sep 10), starting at 12:45. This is the midpoint calibration. The actual midpoint is on day 243 (Aug 31). * There will be a four hour return-to-service for Behind using station 54 on Sep 10. The SSR will not be played back during this track. Week 38 * The 18th momentum dump on Behind is scheduled for day 259 (Sep 16), with ignition at 17:00 UT. Week 39 * G&C software load 3.2.6 will be written to copy 1 on Behind on day 265 (Sep 22). This is the same version currently in use in copy 2. Week 40 * G&C software load 3.2.6 will be written to copy 1 on Ahead on day 272 (Sep 29).
