STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2009-08-18 (Week 34) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 33 * Station 24 was red due to a receiver anomaly for the planned pass on Ahead on day 222 (Aug 10). Some support was obtained from station 25, starting at 10:45 UT, but only for 1.7 hours. The track was carried out at 360 kpbs, because the station 24 pass was supposed to be a test of this rate. Several hours of SSR data were lost for all instruments. * Station 55 could not establish telemetry lock at the beginning of the pass on Ahead on day 227 (Aug 15). A backup processor was brought online to solve the problem. This resulted in the loss of 18 minutes of realtime commanding and telemetry. All SSR data was received. * The 60 hour timer was reenabled on Ahead on day 223 (Aug 11). It was previously disabled because of station 24 going red. * SECCHI activated a new flight software module IP 5.12.00 on Ahead on day 223 (Aug 11) to improve their HI-2 space weather beacon data. * The 8th HI 180 degree roll was carried out on day 225 (Aug 13). * The rescheduled 6 hour test track for the 360 kbps rate on Ahead was carried out on day 225 (Aug 13) on station 26. The IMPACT buffer completely emptied, but other instrument buffers still contained data at the end of the pass: PLASTIC 10%, SWAVES 20%, SECCHI SSR1 30% and SSR2 55%. SECCHI planned on not emptying their buffer during the pass. There was a fairly long gap of 31 hours before the pass. All partitions emptied during the following pass. * A DSN engineering test track on Behind was carried out on day 223 (Aug 11) on station 25 in parallel with a regular track on station 26, from 3:07 to 4:10 UTC. Simultaneous uplinks from both stations interfered with the downlink, and about an hour of data was lost from all instruments. Also 1 dump command was not received. * SECCHI-Behind had a watchdog reset on day 224 (Aug 12) at 06:01:59 UT. They recovered early in the next track on day 225 (Aug 13) at 1:34 UT. This was the 9th SECCHI reset on Behind. * SECCHI activated a new flight software module IP 5.13.00 on Behind on day 225 (Aug 13). This was slightly modified from the version loaded on Ahead. * The average daily SSR downlink was 6.2 gigabits on Ahead, and 5.9 on Behind. Week 34 * Ahead transitioned to 360 kbps starting on Monday, Aug 17. It will stay at this rate until May. Behind is still at 480 kbps. * The station 15 transmitter is currently red. Behind is scheduled to use this station on Thursday and Saturday evenings. A concurrant track on station 25 has been scheduled for Saturday to move SSR pointers, in case the station 15 transmitter is still red. Pointers will be moved as soon as possible on Saturday to free up space. If station 15 is red for the Thursday pass, then the SSR buffers will be read out, but the pointers will not be reset. There was some discussion of moving the pointers with a time tagged command. * The software command loss timer will be disabled this evening (Aug 18) because of the problems with station 15 being red. If the command loss timer triggers, then the instruments would be powered off, and the spacecraft would go to standby mode. * Behind will have a short track of 4.3 hours on Thursday, Aug 20. This pass starts late Wednesday night local time. Week 35 * The 24th momentum dump will be carried out on Ahead on Wednesday, Aug 26 at 14:00 UT. * The 8th HI 180 degree roll will be carried out on Behind on Wednesday, Aug 26 at 13:50 UT. * Some tracks will only be 5 hours long. Week 36 * Ahead will have a 4.5 hour track on day 245 (Sep 2), and Behind will have a 4 hour track. Week 37 * Labor day is Sep 7. * Behind will transition to 360 kbps on day 251 (Sep 8), starting with the track at 14:05. * An HI 180 degree roll is scheduled on Ahead on day 252 (Sep 9), starting at 05:50 UT. However, Ahead will be passing the Lagrange point the very next day, so this maneuver may be cancelled. * The 10th SECCHI stepped calibration will be carried out on Ahead on day 253 (Sep 10), starting at 12:45. * There will be a four hour return-to-service for Behind using station 54 on Sep 10. Week 38 * The 18th momentum dump on Behind is scheduled for day 259 (Sep 16), with ignition at 17:00 UT. Other * The new G&C software load will be written to copy 1 sometime in mid September. Both spacecraft are currently running on copy 2.
