STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2009-03-31 (Week 14) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * APL is gathering instrument input (estimated activities, duration, command support, etc) for the planned G&C software load. APL has an internal review for this system reset on April 15th and would like the instrument information by April 13th. See details below. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spacecraft is currently operating on IMU #2. * Behind is also operating on IMU #2 for testing. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 13 * On day 86 (Mar 27), the ranging pre-calibration on station 34 failed for both the Ahead and Behind passes because of a failed X-band transmitter. This resulted in degraded ranging data for these tracks. * On day 83 (Mar 24), SWAVES successfully loaded flight software version 4.08 on the Ahead spacecraft, which was then executed the next day. The same software version was loaded on Behind on day 84 (Mar 25), but has not been executed yet pending more testing of the EEPROM. * The 20th momentum dump occurred on Ahead on day 84 (Mar 25), imparting 0.0735 m/s. * On day 85 (Mar 26), on the Ahead spacecraft, autonomy rule #28 was modified to allow the spacecraft to continue communicating on the HGA in the event of a star tracker problem so long as the transponder command detector achieves lock for each scheduled pass. This same change was made on Behind on day 84 (Mar 25). * The average daily downlink was 5.5 gigabits for Ahead, and 6.6 gigabits for Behind. Week 14 * PLASTIC would like to change their MCP voltage on both spacecraft this week. It was decided that the best time to do this would be tomorrow (Apr 1) at 11:00 AM EDT on Ahead, and 9:00 PM EDT on Behind. * JOP 216 is occurring tomorrow (Apr 1) from 12-14 UT. SECCHI is supporting with special observations. An associated EIT shutterless campaign (JOP 80) will follow from 16-19 UT, which will be supported by SECCHI with their synoptic program. Week 15 * The next HI 180 degree roll maneuvers are scheduled for Apr 8 on both spacecraft, starting at 03:50 for Ahead, and 07:50 for Behind. Scheduling is mainly driven by the system momentum. The SECCHI team has been analyzing the data from the previous rolls, but there are no definite results yet. * The next SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Behind is scheduled for Tuesday, Apr 7, starting on 01:40 UT. This is the perihelion roll, which was pushed back because of the extra roll that occurred in March. * The Behind spacecraft will switch back to IMU #1 on Apr 8. * There is a return-to-service track scheduled for Ahead on Thursday, Apr 9. The SSR will not be dumped during this track. * Because of a combination of a long duration between passes, and the calibration and HI roll activities, SECCHI will be running a reduced schedule for much of the day on Apr 8. Week 16 * A SUMER campaign is scheduled for Apr 15-29. The campaign organizers need to work more closely with the SECCHI team. Other * Ahead is not yet scheduled for the the G&C software load. * There will be a three hour track before the 70 m track on May 12. This can be used to safe instruments. This track starts around 18:30 UT, while the 70 m track starts around 23 UT. PLASTIC plans to use this track to ramp down their high voltages. After PLASTIC is safed, IMPACT will turn off. SECCHI and SWAVES don't plan to do any special safing activities during this extra track. * There will be an internal APL review of the G&C plans on Apr 15. Another review with project management and the instrument teams will occur after this.
