STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-10-21 (Week 43) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * There is a potential network outage at APL on Saturday, November 15 between 15:30-20:30 UT. This is between STEREO tracks. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spacecraft is currently operating on IMU #2. * Both Ahead and Behind are now operating at 480 kbps. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 42 * On day 291 (Oct 17), the planned DSS 15 antenna was red before the Ahead track started. Support was switched to station 26 with the only change being that the track was 10 minutes shorter. All SSR playback data was recovered. * Ahead switched to 480 kbps on day 287 (Oct 13) during the station 45 support. * The average daily downlink was 6.9 gigabits for Ahead, and the same for Behind. * Station 55 was unable to perform range calibration during the Behind track on day 287 (Oct 13), starting at 15:00 UT, due to a failed X-band translator. * On day 288 (Oct 14) the station 43 transmitter failed during the Behind track at 10:59 UT. The remainder of the pass was finished without the transmitter to avoid losing data during the frequency sweep. Two hours of tracking data were lost. * IMPACT performed realtime commanding for SWEA and STE on Behind on day 289 (Oct 15). Week 43 * The Chandrayaan-1 mission is scheduled for launch early tomorrow morning (Oct 22) at 00:54 UT (tonight local time). * PLASTIC will be testing their POC equipment at APL on Wednesday, day 296 (Oct 22) on Behind, starting at 16:50 UT, and Thursday morning (Oct 23) on Ahead, starting at 11:00 UT. Week 44 * The 17th momentum dump will be performed on Ahead on DAY 304 (Oct 30) at 12:30 UT. * The U.S. will switch to standard time on November 2. Week 45 * No significant activities COORDINATED OBSERVATIONS ------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scheduled activities for Week 43: M Oct 20 (294) T Oct 21 (295) W Oct 22 (296) T Oct 23 (297) JOP 80, EIT shutterless F Oct 24 (298) S Oct 25 (299) S Oct 26 (300) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scheduled activities for Week 44: M Oct 27 (301) T Oct 28 (302) W Oct 29 (303) T Oct 30 (304) Ahead: momentum dump, 12:30 UT F Oct 31 (305) S Nov 01 (306) S Nov 02 (307) Switch to standard time in U.S. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scheduled activities for Week 45: M Nov 03 (308) T Nov 04 (309) W Nov 05 (310) T Nov 06 (311) F Nov 07 (312) S Nov 08 (313) S Nov 09 (314) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upcoming events: 2008: SECCHI Stepped calibration rolls Ahead: Dec 16 Behind: Dec 2 ICAL-001: Nov 3-7, Dec 1-5 * Nov 15 Planned network outage at APL 2009: ICAL-001: Jan 5-9, Jan 26-30, Mar 2-6 SECCHI Stepped calibration rolls Ahead: Mar 10, Jun 9, Sep 2, Nov 24 Behind: Mar 10, Jun 16, Sep 22, Dec 22 * Jan 15,22 JOP 80, EIT shutterless * Apr 16,23 JOP 80, EIT shutterless * Apr Two week SUMER campaign (TBC) * May 18 Ahead: Switch downlink rate to 360 kbps * Jun 8 Behind: Switch downlink rate to 360 kbps * Jul 22 Total solar eclipse http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEmono/TSE2009/TSE2009.html * Aug 4 Both: Increase track duration from 4 to 5 hours * Aug 10 Ahead: Switch downlink rate to 160 kbps * Aug 31 Behind: Switch downlink rate to 160 kbps * Sep 10 Ahead at L4 Lagrange point * Sep 29 Messenger - Mercury fly-by * Oct 25 Behind at L5 Lagrange point * Nov 1-Dec 15 SUMER campaign (TBC)
