STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-07-08 (Week 28) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 27 * The station 25 tranmitter went offline during the Ahead pass on day 182 (Jun 30), causing several minutes of SECCHI data loss. It was decided to not reestablish the command connection to avoid further data loss. Thus, there was no tracking data for 108 minutes. * The first of two SECCHI GT-driven off-points were carried out on day 182 (Jun 30) on both spacecraft. These off-points are used to flat field the EUVI telescope. * The average daily downlink was 7.5 gigabits on Ahead and 7.8 gigabits on Behind. Week 28 * The second of the SECCHI GT-driven off-points for EUVI calibration was carried out yesterday (Jul 7) at 16:15 UT. * The 8th HGA calibrations are scheduled on both spacecraft tomorrow (Jul 9), at 14:00 UT for Ahead, and 17:00 UT for Behind. HGA roll scripts in case of star tracker loss will also be tested. The tests are split between the spacecraft, and will roll by +/- 0.5 on Ahead, and +/- 1.0 degrees on Behind. The tests are being combined with the HGA calibrations because they use the same DSN configuration. The HGA calibration will take about an hour, and the script testing will take about 30-45 minutes. There is sufficient time in the track to perform both of these activities, and to play back the SSR data. Week 29 * The 10th momentum dump will be performed on Behind on day 199 (Jul 17) at 19:45 UT. Week 30 * Nothing unusual planned. Other * Track durations on both spacecraft will increase from 4 to 5 hours on both spacecraft on Aug 4. Ahead is expected to drop to 480 kbps around Aug 11, and Behind around Sep 8. A test track for the 480 kbps is coming up, and APL will inform the teams when it is scheduled. * At the same time the data rate drops to 480 kbps, the double playback of insitu instrument data will end, which means that the insitu teams will see the same occasional data gaps that SECCHI does now. Some of the data gaps may be filled in by space weather data from the NOAA antenna partners. At present, there are no telemetry or CDF products which merge the space weather data from the antenna partners with the playback data from the SSR. * The data allocations between the instrument teams will change when the rate drops to 480 kbps. This is outlined in the Science Operations Plan at http://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/publications/stereo_sop.pdf The space weather allocation will stay the same. No changes are made to DFDs or other procedures to implement these changes.
