STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-03-04 (Week 10) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * There will be a power outage at APL over the weekend on days 67-69 (Mar 7-9). Power will go off Friday at 22:00 UTC, and will be restored Monday at 3:30 UTC. The MOC will continue operating on the generator. The DMZ connections should be maintained. The MOC will be without telephones or email. (Last week it was reported that email contact would be available--this is no longer the case.) Instrument teams should submit any commands before the weekend. * Daylight savings time in the U.S. starts March 9. * Maintenance work will be done at APL on Saturday, March 29, from 10-16 UT. Interruptions are expected in the command interface. Instrument teams should send any commands in advance. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 9 * On day 61 (March 1), the IMPACT SWEA/STE-D on Ahead reset at 05:44 UT. It was recovered yesterday (March 3) at 18:08 UT. * On day 59 (Feb 28), during the Behind pass on station 45, the ranging recalibration failed, and ranging data was lost. * SWAVES on Behind reset on day 58 (Feb 27), and rebooted into an older configuration. This was noticed in the space weather beacon data. It was returned to the current configuration during the next track, at 19:45 UT on day 59 (Feb 28). * On day 60, SECCHI-Behind had a watchdog reset at 04:07 UT. This was discovered at the start of the next pass, and was recovered during the pass at 20:25 UT, with observations resuming at 22:00. This was the 6th watchdog reset of SECCHI on Behind. * There was a discussion of how the SECCHI team is notified of watchdog resets and other instrument anomalies. Although SECCHI sends down status data in the space weather beacon processed by the SSC, the software to send out an automatic alert from the beacon is not yet in place. * The average daily downlink was 7.0 gigabits on Ahead, and 7.2 gigabits on Behind. Week 10 * PLASTIC flight software revision 3.2.7 was successfully loaded on Behind on Monday, March 3 (day 63). * There will be a power outage at APL from March 7-9. See the announcement above for details. Week 11 * Nothing unusual planned. Week 12 * The 8th momentum dump on Behind is planned for day 79 (Mar 18) at 21:25 UT. * The Whole Heliospheric Interval campaign starts March 20, and runs through April 16. The campaign organizers are highly interested in synoptic STEREO data, both imaging and insitu, but have not yet requested any special observing modes. The campaign will start off with JOP 201, which is entitled "Linking the Corona to the Solar Wind at Ulysses". Although Ulysses is currently having telemetry problems, the campaign organizers still plan to go ahead with this JOP, which involves scintillation measurements among others. If Ulysses is unavailable, plumes are expected to be targeted. Week 13 * There will be a momentum dump on Ahead on Tuesday, day 85 (Mar 25), at 16:30 UT. * Maintenance work will be performed at APL on Saturday, March 29. See the announcement above for details. Week 14 * A SECCHI stepped calibration roll will be performed on Ahead on Tuesday, April 1 at 10:35 UT. This activity will last 3 hours. Other * SWAVES is planning a flight software load, which may be ready in two weeks.
