STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-01-15 (Week 3) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The second SECCHI campaign runs from January 7-20. Details are below. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 2 * The SECCHI campaign started on Monday, January 7. This consists of two passes per day, with the second pass devoted to SECCHI telemetry. The primary observing mode during the campaign will be to take high rate EUVI 171 data. In the second they will switch for two days to high rate 304 data. Extra COR1 coronagraph data are also being taken during the campaign. * The average daily downlink was 10.6 gigabits on each spacecraft. * The MOC primary command workstation for Behind crashed between tracks on Thursday, January 10. The machine was rebooted, and came up successfully. A hot backup workstation was also standing by. * The SECCHI-Behind synoptic partition filled up at 22:36. This led to a small data gap between 22:36 and 22:50 when the pointers were reset. * SECCHI carried out JOP200 on January 10th in conjunction with Hinode. This involved taking high cadence EUVI subfield images for two hours between 12 and 14 UT with a 30 second cadence. COR1 and COR2 images were not taken during those two hours. The SECCHI team reports that the campaign ran successfully. Week 3 * The SECCHI campaign continues through Sunday, January 20. * SECCHI-Behind had a watchdog error on Monday, January 14, and was reset and observing again within about six hours. This was the fifth watchdog error on Behind. * The MESSENGER flyby of Mercury occured on Monday, January 14. APL reports that the flyby went nominally, and the data is on the recorder waiting to come down. * IMPACT will be performing SEPT real time commanding on Behind on Wednesday, January 16. Week 4 * There will be a momentum dump on Behind on Wednesday, January 23, at 15:30 UT. Other * A momentum dump is planned for Ahead either the first or second week of February. * There will be a stepped calibration roll on Behind on day 50 (February 19). * There is no word yet on what caused the problems with the Behind star tracker over the holidays. The manufacturer has the data and is reviewing it. One item of interest is that the background recorded by both the Ahead and Behind star trackers sometimes goes to zero. * The SSC asked about if it were possible to get up-to-date data on the predicted Doppler-corrected frequency drift of the STEREO transmitters in non-coherent mode. Some of the beacon ground stations, particularly the CNES station in France, are asking for this information to help them automate their beacon reception.
