STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-10-23 (Week 43) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The meeting for the week after next has been moved to Nov 7th to avoid a conflict with the multiple spacecraft conference. * The meeting on Nov 13th has been cancelled, because all of the instrument teams will be at the SWG meeting in California. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 42 * It was noticed that a small amount of telemetry packets were missing from Ahead during station 24 passes. The cause is under investigation, and switching between channels 5 and 6 is being used to isolate the problem. * The average daily downlink was 7.8 gigabytes on Ahead, and 7.7 gigabytes on Behind. * On Monday, day 288 (Oct 15), station 55 had an overtemp condition on their transmitter during the Behind pass. The data on the recorder was played back, but space was not freed. An additional short track was used to clear up the SECCHI partition, but there was insufficient time to reset all the partitions. On PLASTIC, when the partition reaches 95% full the data rate is throttled back. There was data loss for IMPACT, PLASTIC, and about 53 minutes for SECCHI. No data was lost for SWAVES. The condition was corrected in the next track. * The IMPACT team continued their SEP command anomaly investigation. * The SWAVES roll maneuver was loaded on Friday. Week 43 * The SWAVES 90/270 roll events occured on Monday on both spacecraft. * Thursday marks the 1st anniversary of STEREO's launch. * The IMPACT team will continue their SEP command anomaly investigation. * STEREO Ahead will pass through the most intense part of the Leonid meteor shower on Sunday, day 301 (Oct 28). Additional, but less severe, showers are expected on Oct 31 and Nov 1st. * There was a problem with SECCHI commands not being sent yesterday. Commands were submitted on Friday with an enable during the pass yesterday. However, the commands didn't go up as expected. The cause was traced to a software issue in the MOC. SECCHI resubmitted the commands, and they were transmitted correctly. Week 44 * SUMER campaign runs from Nov 2-16. JOP 197, which is part of the SUMER campaign, actually starts a little earlier, on Oct 30th. As far as the SECCHI team is aware, the only JOP that requires anything other than the normal synoptic plan is JOP 197 which wants deep exposures at 171 Angstroms. At this point, it's too late to ask for any special SECCHI observations. Week 45 * EUNIS sounding rocket launch on November 6th. * Momentum dump on Ahead, Nov 8th at 17:30 UT. Other * The MOC wishes to bring the following to the attention of the instrument teams: As the roundtrip light travel time increases, the time available for playback is gradually decreasing by about 1 second per day. Next August, when the downlink rate is decreased to 480 kbps, the track durations will be increased from the current 4 hours to 5. * The APL flight software team has asked for input from the instrument teams as to what changes might be helpful during the extended mission phase. This has been distributed to the PIs. Mike Kaiser asks that the PI teams communicate with him rather than directly with APL, so that a coordinated response is made.
