STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-08-07 (Week 32) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Starting approximately a couple of weeks from now, the start of the recorder playback will be 3 minutes later into the pass to give more time for the uplink sweep, now that the spacecraft are further away. This will mean that the total recorder playback will be 3 minutes shorter. The date of this change will be announced prior to its implementation. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 31 * Guide telescope rate usage was enabled on Ahead on day 213 (Aug 1). * The average daily SSR downlink volume was 7.4 gigabits on Ahead and 8.0 gigabits on Behind. * A SECCHI mode change on Behind caused Autonomy Rule 126 to fire on day 214 (Aug 2) during the track, disabling the use of GT rate usage. It was reenabled during the same track. This was caused by SECCHI doing a software reset while trying to recover from a bug involving their light travel time correction. In future, the SECCHI team will warn the MOC before any planned operations that will cause the autonomy rule to fire. The rule will also fire whenever the SECCHI instrument reboots itself autonomously. * The SECCHI team encountered a problem with their light travel time correction on the Behind spacecraft that caused observations to be scheduled at incorrect times several days in the future. A temporary fix was implemented to disable the light travel time correction, and a software patch has been prepared to fix the problem. The SECCHI team commends the MOC team for coming in on Saturday to assist in commanding needed to fix the problem. Week 32 * SECCHI attempted to load their software patch to the Behind spacecraft this morning (Aug 7), but encountered problems. The source of the problem is still under investigation, but is believed to occur within the MOC ground software. The command load was larger than the usual SECCHI load. SECCHI will attempt again to send up the patch during the pass tonight, which will be attended both at APL and at NRL. Week 33 * There will be a momentum dump on the Ahead spacecraft on day 228 (Aug 16), at 22:45 UT. This will be the seventh momentum dump on Ahead. PLASTIC saw a large spike in their data rate during the last momentum dump on Behind, even when the entrance system was turned off. This was never seen before. That momentum dump was no different from previous dumps, and the plan for the upcoming dump is also quite normal. * The COR2 stray light off-point maneuver will occur on Behind on day 226 (Aug 14) at 14:50 UT. * Ulysses will pass through the ecliptic plane on August 19th. Week 34 * No special events are currently planned.
