STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-05-01 (Week 18) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Unattended track operations have started. One track a week will be staffed, typically on Wednesdays, which will be available for instrument realtime commanding. Instrument teams are advised to let the MOC know early in the track if they want to do commanding--otherwise the flight ops team might go back to unattended operations when all known activities for the track are completed. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. The Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 17 * The transmitter on station 45 went off-line during the Ahead pass on day 115. The transmitter was offline between 17:59 and 18:10. * Average daily downlink was 7.6 gigabits on Ahead, and 8.2 gigabits on Behind. * SECCHI did a mechanism spin test on both spacecraft on day 115. During this period, high rate G&C/IMU data was brought down. * The SECCHI reports a gap in their data of 2.5 hours between 22:41 on day 115 and 01:56 on day 116 which does not appear in the data loss log. Week 18 * Started unattended tracks on Monday. The Wednesday track is typically staffed. * This week the Thursday track will also be staffed in order to due the weekly UT load. This is because of the additional tracks on both spacecraft. * The MOC requests that the instrument teams inform them about the need for realtime commanding two weeks ahead of time so that it can plan it into the schedule. Emergency commanding will also be possible. * SECCHI campaign starts on Friday. Only playing back SECCHI and S/C partitions during extra 3 hour passes. Week 19 * SECCHI campaign all week. * An autonomy rule mode to improve the robustness of operating under the redundant IMU will be uploaded to Ahead on Monday, and to Behind on Wednesday. * A new backup point-of-presence for the T1 link will be installed on day 130. Week 20 * SECCHI campaign ends Thursday, May 17th. * The extra Behind track on day 135 will be 4 hours in duration. Week 21 * Momentum dumps on both spacecraft on day 143, Ahead at 14:30 and Behind at 20:00 UT. These will be performed on thruster set A. Week 22 * No additional tracks scheduled. The DSN schedule for the following weeks is still being negotiated. DAWN is currently scheduled for June 30, and will require continuous coverage for a month. PHOENIX launch is scheduled for Aug 3, with a 22 day launch window. SELENE is scheduled to launch August 15 from Japan--the entire mission lasts only a month. Discussion of SECCHI campaign * The SECCHI campaign will concentrate on the EUVI telescopes. There are two sequences that are planned. One will concentrate on the 171 line, and will be run whenever there is an active region visible. If no active region is available, the SECCHI team also has another sequence that concentrates on 304. However, they only anticipate running the 304 sequence for a couple of days during the campaign. The decision about which sequence to use will be made a few days ahead of time. The 304 sequence is designed mostly for looking at spicules and jets. * The SECCHI campaign will involve increasing their usage of their synoptic (SSR1) buffer. With two passes per day, they should be able to avoid overflowing this buffer. They do not plan to use their special event (SSR2) buffer during this campaign. They are somewhat limited by their onboard processing, so they will use the extra telemetry more to increase the quality of their images (compress less) rather than to take more images. * Hinode, SOHO, and TRACE will take part in the campaign. Hinode will provide the target selection for the SOHO and TRACE observations. There's a good active region on the disk right now. * EIT will be performing their shutterless campaign on May 9 and 15. This campaign takes high cadence images in 304. Depending on the solar conditions, this may be a good opportunity to run the EUVI 304 sequence for the SECCHI campaign.
