STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-03-13 (Week 11) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The SECCHI campaign in May has been assigned a Joint Observing Program (JOP) number of 187. The write-up is available on the SSC website at http://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/resources.shtml INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. * IMPACT: The first calibrated magnetometer data are coming on line. Several SEP instruments are waiting for a decent solar event before they can complete their calibration. MAG and LEP level-1 data should be released shortly. * SWAVES: Converging on calibrations. The next software upload is moving along. This upload will include the ability to include spaceweather data. * SECCHI: A few calibration activities are outstanding. The pointing was changed on B about two weeks ago. This will require another stepped calibration roll, which should be scheduled within the next few weeks. A few hiccups were encountered with planning a new synoptic program. Getting the synoptic program straightened out is the current top priority. The instrument itself is in excellent condition. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 10 * The recorder on Ahead was not fully played back on days 64 and 67. About 27% of the G&C data was not played back on day 64, and about 5% of the SECCHI Special Event partition was not played back on day 67. There had been some earlier estimates that all the recorder would be played back if the complete nominal pass could be used. * On day 69 power was lost at the antenna station for about 20 minutes. All SSR data was recovered. * The average data volume recovered during the week was 6.4 gigabits each on both Ahead and Behind. * Patched all workstations for daylight savings time. Week 11 * SECCHI/HI 90 and 270 coincident rolls today. So far, the data looks good. * Uploaded G&C patch to Ahead today to correct telemetry problem. Will be doing the same on Behind this afternoon. * HGA calibration tomorrow on Ahead. * Behind HGA calibration was performed yesterday. There was a problem with recieved power signal. The recommendation was to use a different DSN station configuration. The test will be repeated within the next few weeks. * Will be performing SECCHI/HI 180 degree rolls on both spacecraft on Thursday. Week 12 * Ephemeris update on Ahead on day 83. * Time update on Behind on day 78 Other * HGA calibrations on day 93. * Potential for momentum dump on Behind in week 14, and on Ahead in week 15. Expect these maneuvers to be scheduled for either Wednesday or Thursday. * Two-week SECCHI campaign starts May 4. DSN tracks have been scheduled. * Will be transitioning to unattended tracks during week 18. * Will be switching to automated triggering for data processing, possibly as early as next week. This will result in fewer 0-length files, and the files should be ready earlier. * Discussion by the SECCHI team of the length of time it takes to do a spacecraft load. They find that there commands are bunching up instead of being spaced out as they had intended. Part of the problem may be due to the increasing light travel time to the spacecraft. APL will look into the situation. * Requests are coming in for SECCHI participation in solar observing campaigns. SECCHI plans to participate in the Hinode/SOHO campaign in April.
