STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-01-16 (Week 03) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Mission operations will now start producing level-0 files and other data products going one day further back in time, to make sure that all data are included. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 2 * Switched to HGA on Ahead, Jan 8. * SECCHI-HI stray light off-point on Ahead, Jan 10, and on Behind Jan 13. * SECCHI GT calibration on Ahead, Jan 12 * Commanding came up 80 minutes late on Behind on Jan 14. All activities were accomplished was commanding was established. * Performed Behind A5+ maneuver delta-V maneuver on Jan 8 to ensure lunar transit. Imparted 0.78 m/s of delta-V. * Opened Behind Hi-door Jan 11. Caught comet McNaught in field of view. * Performed HGA calibration maneuver on Behind Jan 12. However, this proved to not be effective with crossed polarization in effect. Further HGA calibrations on both spacecraft will be delayed until March 7. The Behind calibration originally scheduled for Jan 18 is cancelled--the track will be normal. * Applied G&C wheel speed avoidance logic on Jan 11 on Behind. The spacecraft went out of fine pointing a few times during this operation. Week 3 * Updating Ahead and Behind on-board ephemerides on Wednesday. Ahead ephemeris will take effect on the 22nd, and the Behind ephemeris will take effect on Jan 21. * Momentum dump on Ahead on Jan 18 at 19:30 UT. Will use A thrusters, which will impart about 0.15 m/s along X direction. * Promoting Ahead spacecraft to operational mode. * Tracking schedules starting to build up now that maneuvers are over. * JPL switching to SPS today at 23:00 UT. Instrument teams shouldn't see any difference. JPL will keep both old and new systems online for next 30 days, but SPS will be prime. * Opening IMPACT SIT and SEPT covers today on Behind. * Second lunar swingby S2 will occur on Behind Sunday Jan 21 very early in the morning. The closest approach will be 8819 km. The orbital period will be 389 days. There will be 11 hours of track coverage. * Behind still on LGA at 720 kbps. The daily track coverage will gradually settle down to 4 hours. * Behind will not be visible from the southern hemisphere for the next 10 days. Week 4 * Start of prime mission Jan 22. * Mission Operations will stop routinely playing back black box data from the spacecraft on Jan 22. This will release 177 megabits to the science teams. Week 5 * Final SWAVES calibration rolls on Behind on Jan 29 at 5:40 UT, and Jan 31 at 1:25 UT. Each roll is 10 hours long. * Behind will switch to the HGA on Jan 31, after the SWAVES roll. * SECCHI-driven EUVI calibration off-point on Behind, Feb 4 at 10:45 UT. Off-points will be on the order of 1 arc-minute. Week 6 * Spacecraft-driven EUVI calibration off-point on Behind, Feb 5 at 06:10 UT. Off-points will range from 0.05 to 0.2 degrees. The script for this maneuver has been corrected. * SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Behind, Feb 6. Other * The Chilbolton station in England, run by the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, successfully locked onto the beacon telemetry signal from the Ahead spacecraft. Several hours of telemetry was recorded, and then sent on to the STEREO Science Center where it was successfully captured and processed into science data files. They are now working on the step of combining the two steps into one, so that each telemetry frame is sent the moment it is received. The Japanese station at Koganei is expected to start tests within the next few days. * APID problem in Command History files has been corrected. Mission Operations will reprocess older data to use the correct APIDs.
