STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-01-09 (Week 02) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. * On day 5 on Ahead, during an EUVI flat-field calibration maneuver, the spacecraft sent a flag to the instruments signalling that the spacecraft was off-pointed by more than 5 degrees. As designed, instrument covers were automatically closed on IMPACT, and the PLASTIC entrance system was turned off. The reason for the excessive off-point has been tracked to an error in the script, and is being corrected. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 1 * Day 4 HGA was set to autotrack on Ahead. Expect to see tracking kick in around day 11. Instruments should see the warning bit set at that time. * Performed EUVI flat field calibration maneuver on day 5. (See status above) * Had a ground system transmit anomaly on the Ahead spacecraft on day 6. Commanding was restored 2 hours later. * Performed peak power test on Behind on day 2. * Performed STE diagnostic maneuver on day 5 on Behind. At the end of this test the HGA auto tracking feature was turned on briefly to test it, and then turned off. The warning bit was sent to the instruments. * Year rollover problem caused data for days 365, 1, and 2 to be late. That problem has now been fixed. Week 2 * Switched Ahead to HGA on day 8. Currently operating at 720 kbps, with nearly 4 hour track every day. The instrument teams should now see their full on-orbit telemetry allocations. * Updating autonomy macros on both S/C. * Day 10, HI offpoint on Ahead, 22:00 UT. * Day 12, GT offpoint on AHead, 18:00 UT. * A5+ maneuver on Behind went smoothly on Jan 8. Imparted ~0.7 m/s delta-V. Should know definitely by tomorrow if any more maneuvers are required to target the lunar transit on Feb 25. * Thursday, Jan 11, on Behind, SECCHI will open their HI cover, and IMPACT will open their SIT and SEPT covers. * Some unattended tracks this week, with no commanding or SSR playback. * Friday, Jan 12, 1st HGA calibration on Behind. Because the HGA will be too strong for the DSN, they will be using reverse polarization. Thus, when the pass starts on the LGA, the telemetry rate will be too low for instrument telemetry. Instrument telemetry and SSR playback will begin once the switch to HGA is made. Also requires 20 kW uplink transmit power. * Saturday, Jan 13, SECCHI-HI off-point maneuver on Behind Week 3 * Interface for retrieving DSN schedules, etc., switching over to SPS on Jan. 16th. Users should not see any impact. * DSN schedules are now available for week 3. Expect week 4 schedules in the next day or two. Already have schedules for weeks 5 and 6. Once all the manuevers are complete, the DSN schedules should be available further in advance than they were during the phasing orbits. * Behind is still using the LGA. It will be using 70 m at Goldstone on Monday, Jan 15, which will provide 720 kbps that day. Jan 15 is a possible maneuver date if any more maneuvers are needed. * S2 lunar swingby on Behind, Jan 21 at 9:03 UT. The altitude will be 8815 km. Mission planning is targeting a drift rate of -22 degrees/year, as well as the lunar transit on Feb 25. * Unattended track on Behind on Saturday, Jan 20, but long 8 hour track on Sunday. MOps plans to go to unattended mode toward the end of the track--instrument teams should take this into account in their planning. * Momentum is building up on Ahead. MOps will plan a momentum dump soon, to occur probably within then the next 10 days. Week 4 * Mission switches to Phase E on Jan 22. Week 5 * SWAVES smooth calibration rolls on 29 and 30. Each roll is 10 hours long. MOps is looking into the dates to try to give more time between roll maneuvers. * Behind switches to HGA on Jan 31. Other * MOps is still modifying weekly schedule. * As mission moves out of commissioning into phase E, operations will migrate to a 2 weeks in advance planning schedule.
